About The Program

Virginia’s elementary schools are calling for strong, dynamic teachers—and the Graduate Certificate in Teaching Elementary Education helps prepare individuals to take on these in-demand roles. This program goes beyond the basics, immersing you in the core content areas of science, reading, social studies, and mathematics while sharpening your skills to truly inspire young learners.

But it doesn’t stop there: you’ll gain real-world, hands-on experience through a one-year residency in high-needs schools with the RTR Teacher Residency program or by leading your very own classroom as a provisionally licensed teacher. With expert guidance, practical training, and the chance to make an immediate impact, you won’t just be learning, you’ll be transforming classrooms and changing lives.
