The VCU School of Education's 2020 Virtual Fall Convocation will feature Dr. Maria Pitre-Martin, superintendent of Petersburg City Public Schools, as keynote speaker.

Dr. Pitre-Martin has a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University. As a principal in College Station, Texas, she was named the Texas Middle School Principal of the Year and was one of the youngest presidents of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. While she was the superintendent of schools for the Thomasville City School District in North Carolina, the graduation rate in Thomasville increased 12% to an all-time high and the district saw double-digit gains in test scores.

The event will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. on August 28 via Zoom. Hear about our school’s many accomplishments over the past year and get inspired for the year ahead!
