April Marie “Sweet” Hart Scholarship
The April Marie “Sweet” Hart Scholarship was established by family and friends in memory of Ms. April Marie Hart. April was an accomplished VCU student who planned to be a first-grade teacher. She loved children and cheerleading, and especially loved teaching gymnastics to her students at the East Richmond Gymnastics Center in Richmond. April passed away June 25, 2003 at the age of 20. The scholarship is renewable for up to four additional years, provided the student remains in good academic standing as determined by the dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences.
Available for:
Undergraduate and graduate students
Criteria
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must major in a discipline within the College of Humanities and Sciences or the School of Education
- Must plan to become a teacher
- Essay MUST include present or previous demonstrated interest in gymnastics or cheerleading
