Dr. A. Gaynelle Whitlock Scholarship

The Dr. A. Gaynelle Whitlock Scholarship honors the late Dr. A. Gaynelle Whitlock, former associate dean of the School of Education. It was established by Dr. Whitlock’s friends and colleagues in the fall of 2000 to honor her many accomplishments as an educator and her contributions to the VCU community. The recipient shall be one who plans to work in Virginia, with preference given to students from the vicinity of Mineral, Va., or plan to work in that geographic area.

Criteria

• Pursuing a master’s degree in counselor education with intent to become an elementary school counselor
• Outstanding scholastic achievement and dedication to counselor education
• Demonstrated financial need
• Committed to high moral standards in counseling
• Plans to work in Virginia, with preference given to students from or planning to work in the Mineral, Va. area
