Fred P. Orelove Scholarship in Disability Studies
This scholarship was started by friends, family and colleagues to honor the distinguished service of Dr. Fred Orelove. Orelove retired in 2010 after more than 30 years of service to the School of Education as a professor of special education and disability policy. Nationally recognized as a tireless advocate for persons with disabilities, Orelove became the executive director of the VCU Partnership for People with Disabilities in 1991 and served in that role until his retirement. With his leadership, the program is now home to more than 20 federal and state programs supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.
