John A. Van de Walle Professional Development Fund

The John A. Van de Walle Professional Development Fund was established by the Van de Walle Family in 2009. The late Dr. John A. Van de Walle was one of the most renowned mathematics educators in the country. Van de Walle spent most of his career at the VCU School of Education, where he taught mathematics education to pre-service and in-service teachers for 29 years.

This fund will award monies up to $1,000 to pay for registration, travel and hotel costs for the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics Regional Conferences. The winner may also use the funds for the organization's national conference. Monies from this fund may be applied for in multiple years, providing the student remains in good academic standing as determined by the School of Education Scholarship Committee.
