Stephanie, Rebecca and Norris Holt Scholarship
Stephanie L. Holt established this scholarship to honor her parents, Rebecca and Norris Holt, for providing her with the financial opportunity to attend and graduate college. Ever since Stephanie was born, her parents began saving for her college education. After her graduation from the School of Education in 1974, she started teaching high school business education in Richmond Public Schools (RPS). One of her favorite aspects of teaching in Richmond was watching her students break the poverty barrier and become successful.
After five years teaching, Stephanie decided to make a change and became a salesperson for Xerox Corporation. She also headed up their community involvement program, which gave her the opportunity to give back to both VCU and RPS. Her biggest piece of advice to young people aspiring to become educators is to “relate to people, always be persistent, learn to adapt to change, and always remember to give back, especially to VCU.”
